*August 16. 2nd Annual Herbie's Home Town Loop. 4 Mile Race, 16 mile non-competitive bike ride and 2 mile kayak/canoe ride (advanced registration required for this part of the day's events). The race is competitive and starts at 8:30 AM. The bike ride is a fun loop around Bellefonte starting at 10:30 AM. The kayak/canoe run requires advanced registration. It starts at 1:30 PM from Tussey Outfitters in Bellefonte and finishes in Curtin Village. There will also be a Pasta Dinner ($6) the evening before. Application. Visit the race web page.

August 16. Dare To Run 4.7 Miler and Kids Run. 9 AM. Colyer Lake parking lot, Lake Rd. Registration: $15 by August 3, $20 afterward and on race day for 4.7 miler; $5 by August 3, $10 afterward and on race day for Kids 200 m dash. Kids run starts at 9:20 AM. Application. Run and walk will honor service men and women killed or injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. 5K Course is on Museum grounds, residential streets, and the Mount Nittany Middle School grounds. September 6. Bloomsburg University Alumni and Open 5K Cross Country Race. 12:30 PM. Bloomsburg University Upper Campus. Registration: $15. Application.

September 6. City of Altoona Race. 5 mile, 2 mile, and 2 mile walk.  The 5 mile course runs through the Juniata area near the Penn State Altoona campus and is flat to slightly rolling.  The 2 mile run and walk is flat.  Start and finish is on 11th Ave in Downtown Altoona.  You may park near the Heritage Plaza. September 7. Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Huntingdon County 5K. 2 PM. Lower Rail Trail, Alexandria, PA. Registration begins at 12:30PM. 5K Run/Walk begins at 2 PM. Pre-registration fee: $15.00 (by September 1)   September 2 to Race Day: $18.00. Two or more pre-registered runners and/or walkers per household: $13.00 per person. Application. The Dream Factory of Pennsylvania grants the dreams of critically and chronically ill children in Blair and surrounding counties.

Host of USA 50 Mile Championships; $3200 Ultra championship purse to first 1-2-3 M/F open and masters, bonus for course records. Easy access via air and interstate. Scenic, certified single-loop course on mostly gravel fire roads in Rothrock State Forest. Relay teams of 2-8 rotate through 12 legs of course. Hollidaysburg Area YMCA October Half-Marathon & Races.  Race includes 13.1 miles, 5K, and a 2 mile walk and all races start at 8am.  If you are looking for a more challenging half marathon course, come race this one!!!  It's a beautiful rolling course that starts and finishes at the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA.  Please check out our website for the maps and entry fees for all races on www.hollidaysburgareaymca.org.

December 7. 3rd Annual Polar Bear 5K Run and 3K Walk. Sponsored by Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and Alpha Phi Sorority. All the Proceeds benefit the Centre Communities Chapter of the American Red Cross through our national "Blood, Sweat and Cash Service Project." The race starts at 508 Locust Lane, State Collge, PA 16801. The course is in downtown State College. Details to follow.

*December 13.  5th Annual State College Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis.  5K Run or 1 mile Walk.  Kid’s Fun Run Around Ball Park.  Race starts at 11:00 AM, Medlar Field at Lubrano Park – State College Spikes Baseball Stadium. Costume Contest, Raffle Prizes and ‘Santa on a Harley’. Trophies to Male and Female Winners.  Medals to top three in five year age categories.  NVRC members: Participate in the 2nd Annual Big 10 Challenge. *April 18. 3rd Annual Jeremy Herbstritt Memorial 5K Run/Walk. 10 AM. This event honors Jeremy - the man, runner and lover of life. A certified 5K loop with start/finish on Curtin Road near the Intramural Building at Penn State.  Details to follow.

*May 3. 2nd Annual Linden Loop 5 Mike Run, Walk or Bike. 1 p.m. bike (5 mile recreational ride or 10 miles for time), 2 p.m. run/walk.  Proceeds support the Rock Hill School at Linden Hall. Details to follow.

May 31. Bob Potts Heritage Rail Trail Marathon. 6:30 AM. Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center, York College, York, PA. More details at the race web site: http://www.bobpottsmarathon.com/.

*June 27. 6th Annual Crack O’ Dawn 5K Run/Walk & Pancake Breakfast. 8 AM.  An early morning tour of lesser-known streets in picturesque Boalsburg, PA. Fee includes pancake breakfast after the race ($7 for non-participants) and color race tee shirt.  Advance registration $18 if postmarked by June 17, $25 thereafter; $8 for kids 11 & under.
