"I thought the course was good and challenging. I wouldn't change a thing." ---Rob Guissanie

"You have redefined the meaning of 'somewhat challeging'." ---Jerry Heinz

"It's a very tough course, especially after about mile 7. The last mile is designed to make you see God." ---Marty Mazur

"I was looking for God during the last mile, but I didn't see him. I guess he finished ahead of me too."
--- Albert Mabus, last male finisher at the 2001 NVHM

2007 Race: There was a threat of the winter's first snow storm, and an inch of snow on the dirt roads behind the Ag Arena (the race's first 2.5 miles) made early going a bit treacherous. But the predicted sleet and rain bypassed the area, and the moderate temperature (low 30s) and low winds made the 24th running of the Nittany Vally Half-Marathon a lot nicer than it could have been. Over 350 runners completed the course. Race results, the Race Director's report, and lots of photos are posted here. Race proceeds benefit the Centre Volunteers in Medicine.

2008 Race: Due to venue scheduling, this year's race will be a few weeks earlier than usual. The chances of snow and ice are significantly less. The race will be held on Sunday, November 2 at 10 AM. Race headquarters is the Penn State Ag Arena on Park Avenue and Porter Rd. We're hoping for a beautiful late fall day. Registration: $17 by November 1, $20 on race day. Application. You can register online at active.com, http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1539823. For more information, contact the Race Director, Dave Eggler, at eggler@geosc.psu.edu.

Miscellany
"I remember winning the 1992 race in wicked conditions.  I have
to credit the victory to the fact that the PSU Team did not show up
for a change. As a typical runner I can remember the details of every
race well; the first few miles were on snow covered roads until we got out
near the airport. At that point the roads were clear as an unfortunate
result of some really nasty cross winds. I believe Boyd Brumbaugh
finished second that year, but I'm not certain. I remember running with
him during the the mid to latter half of the race.”
