18th Cassville Oktoberthon 5K - Saturday, September 23, 2006

The Cassville Oktoberthon 5K Run/Walk began promptly at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 23,. under dark clouds and a fine mist. The hearty runners and walkers numbering 79 in all finished the run under a hint of oncoming sunshine for the remainder of the day. The youngest male participant was Daniel McClure of Huntingdon, age 7, and the youngest female was Tinesha Curfman, age 10, of Cassville.

The awards were presented with local celebrity and runner Rick Meitrott injecting humor and challenges to the group while Glenn Wright, chairman of the event, presented the trophies and door prizes. The two weekend get-a-ways were won by Jeff Henderson of PA Furnace, at Lane’s Homestead, and Macie Whitsel of Cassville at Bitter Goose Lodge. The male overall finisher was Cody Myers with a time of 18:55 and the female overall finisher was Amy Prokop at 21:16. William Obert and Sherry Obert completed the walk at 35:35 and 37:27 respectively. Runners finished as follows:
