2008 Red Raider Rally Run Results

The skies were threatening but did not dampen the enthusiasm of the 68 elementary and middle school runners that toed the line at the 4th annual Red Raider Rally Run held at the Bellefonte Area Middle School this past weekend. The Bellefonte Area cheerleaders painted some sunny, happy faces on the runners as they made their way to the starting line. NIKE provided a bag of goodies for all runners and there were plenty of healthy snacks to enjoy afterward.

The Etter boys from State College put on a dominating performance each winning their respective races. In the first race of the day, Samantha Stokes, Bellefonte, took top honors in the girls mile, with a time of 8:19, while Robby Etter claimed the boys title for the second year in a row finishing in 7:05.

The 1.5 mile race, for runners eighth grade and younger, was next with Alyssa Brisbin, Tyrone, taking the top female spot in 11:48 and Ivan Pavlov, State College, finishing in 9:50. The rest of the day belonged to the younger group, starting with the quarter mile race for children kindergarten and younger. Six year old, Amber Shirey, Pleasant Gap, was the top female finisher in 1:51 and Steven Etter was top male in 1:44.

The next race was the half mile race for runners in first and second grade followed by the half-mile race for runners in third and fourth grade. Kaitlyn Freeman, Bellefonte, took top honors for the females in grades 1 & 2 in 4:12 while Natasha Fedkina, State College, bested the 3rd & 4th grade field for the second year in a row, posting a time of 3:19. Mitchell Etter continued the family's winning ways topping the 1st & 2nd grade field in 3:33, while his brother, Jack Etter, completed the sweep taking top honors for the males in grades 3 & 4 in 3:08. 

The top five finishers in each race received medals and all finishers received a ribbon. All runners were greeted at the finish line by an enthusiastic crowd of parents, friends and members of the Bellefonte Area High School cross-country team.
