Club
Meetings
As
always, the club seeks
your participation at general club meetings. The next club meeting will
be held on Tuesday evening, February 5, at 6:30 at the Hi-Way Pizza on
Westerly
Parkway. If you're interested in what we do at these meetings besides
eat
pizza and drink beer, an agenda will be posted a week or two before the
meeting. If you would like to help out, but can't attend the meeting,
contact Jerry Steffy. You'll hear of plenty
of
opportunities to participate at the club meetings, but a few current
areas
where we need immediate help are listed below.
In the summer of 2003, the NVRC started announcing regular Saturday morning runs, and they have been working out well. We do rely on having someone act as the leader for each Saturday. This just involves choosing a meeting place and some sort of plan for the run -- typically, something like "meet at Rec Hall at 8.30 a.m. to cover 6-10 miles at a relaxed pace" -- and spreading the word via the website and the NVRC Yahoo group.
You don't need any special qualifications to do this! Basically you are promising to show up and to hang off the back so no one gets lost or has to run alone. We usually get around 8-12 people on Saturday and Sunday mornings. These are relaxed, friendly, low-key runs at a sociable pace, and a very nice way to get to know other area runners.
If you are willing to help out, please email Marty Mazur (mxm14@psu.edu). You can also post a note to Yahoo (NVRC@yahoogroups.com). There's info on dates that folks have already signed up for at the Weekend Group Runs page.
Please sign up for one or two weeks soon!
